The Miles for Music 1 Miler is structured to allow children to compete in a real road race – and to help the kids learn the important lesson of actively contributing to their school and their community – in this case, to help support the cause of music education in our local schools.
For Kids looking for a bit more challenge, or Parents, Teachers & Friends wanting to join a school team – there’s the 5K Race. The races start at the same time and finish at the same location – the Victory Recovery Area. Together, both events provide a great way for the entire family to enjoy an active afternoon in the park.
The concept is to register schools with Miles for Music and then build a team of runners/walkers for each school – comprised of students, parents, and teachers. The larger the school’s team, the greater the contribution we’ll direct to that school’s music program.
IS YOUR SCHOOL REGISTERED?
If you don’t see your child’s school listed, speak with your child’s teacher about registering your school – remember to refer them to the TEACHERS INFO page for your event.
Please Note! Parents/Teachers, you are encouraged to run with your child, but it is not mandatory. Remember though, the more people running for your school team – the greater your fundraising opportunities. If you do choose to run, you will be required to register and wear a race bib/number. For safety, no one is allowed on the course without a bib.
For lost parent/child reasons, ensure that the child’s bib contains his/her information and the parent’s cell phone number. If you have a younger child in a stroller accompanying you, that child will have to be entered in the event and have a bib number to be on the course.
